Creating a DigitalOcean Account and Getting an API Key

DigitalOcean is a cloud infrastructure platform that provides virtual machines, storage, and networking services. It offers a range of products and services designed to help you build and manage applications and websites. In this tutorial, we will show you how to create a DigitalOcean account and get an API key.

Step 1 - Sign Up for a DigitalOcean Account

The first step is to create a DigitalOcean account. Visit the DigitalOcean website and click the Sign Up button. You will be asked to enter your email address and choose a password. Once you have filled out the form, click the Create an Account button.

Step 2 - Verify Your Email Address

Once you have created your account, you will be asked to verify your email address. DigitalOcean will send a verification email to the address you provided. Click the link in the email to confirm your address.

Step 3 - Log In to Your DigitalOcean Account

Once your email address has been verified, you can log in to your DigitalOcean account. Visit the DigitalOcean website and enter your email address and password. Click the Log In button to access your account.

Step 4 - Create an API Key

Once you have logged in to your DigitalOcean account, you can create an API key. An API key is a set of credentials that allows third-party applications to access your DigitalOcean account and resources.

To create an API key, click the API tab in the left-hand navigation menu. On the API page, click the Generate New Token button.

In the Name field, enter a name for your token. This will help you identify the token if you ever need to revoke it.

Next, select the Read and Write option in the Permissions dropdown menu. This will allow the token to access all of your DigitalOcean resources.

Finally, click the Generate Token button.

Step 5 - Copy the API Key

Once the token has been generated, it will be displayed on the screen. Copy the token and store it in a safe place. This is the only time the token will be displayed, so make sure to store it securely.
