What are the signs of a CPU bottleneck?

One indication of a CPU usage bottleneck is if your system's load averages are consistently high. You can view your system's load averages by running the top command.

If you see that one or more of your CPU cores is consistently at 100% utilization, then you may have a CPU usage bottleneck. Another sign of a CPU usage bottleneck is if your system's total CPU utilization is close to or above 100%. You can view your system's total CPU utilization by running the vmstat command.
